Work begins on the mining area of my new layout

We have finally completed our move from Alaska to Idaho and I have gotten off to a good start on my new layout.

This layout is a 20 inch wide bench around three walls of a 9 by 13 room.

As you enter the room, on the immediate left is the mining area of the layout.

I began by trying to make rocks using the Frocks method made popular by my good friend, Mario Rapinett.

Frocks are made by tearing foam rubber into chunks and then gluing them into place.

When the glue dries, you simply brush on some very thin spackling compound which is then painted after the spackling compound dries.
